The biggest color trends of 2021 give us exactly what we are looking for. We have bubblegum pink, a muted shade of yellow, magenta, mandarin orange and, last but not least, apple green or Kelly green. Eat your green vegetables, as you said. Well, if you don’t eat them, could at least wearing them be a healthy alternative? Maybe it was a bad joke. Anyway, this season is all about adding a touch of color (yes, I hate that word too. Any suggestions for someone else leave it below) and green is having a great time. I see it everywhere, from small accents – like Bottega Veneta’s absolutely awesome Jodie mini bag, which I mentioned in the Youtube video “Spring selection you won’t contrition”-to ready–to-wear. I think Bottega Veneta can’t restock its shelves fast enough as it’s been one hit accessory after another.
Great, but now you have to think ” Ok Karen, but how the hell am I going to style this color? Sounds harsh !”That might be a scary shade to style, I’m not going to lie. That’s why I’ve put together some styling tips. Go further down, you have my green light (sorry, I had to do it).
WEAR IT ON YOUR WRIST
A bag is indeed the easiest way to brighten up the look if you want to try the trend yourself. Combine it with darker shades to balance the look. Or go a little crazy and mix it with prints like I did here.
WEAR IT WITH SHADES OF BROWN
At the spring/summer 2021 presentation of Victoria Beckham, see the photo above, the green appeared in the form of elongated tight-fitting trousers. Clean additions – a caramel trench coat and a rich brown shirt-compensate for the electrifying green.
WEAR IT WITH A DIFFERENT BRIGHT COLOR
Remember this article about color blocking? Are you feeling brave recently? Nothing says ‘we’re allowed out’ like a good old shiny shadow. If you are not afraid to stand out from the crowd, then you should try to add a touch of pink or orange (both very popular at the moment) to the ensemble. Green and pink might be one of my favorite color combinations right now.
WEAR IT OVER A DRESS
I promise you that you will not look like a traffic light. It is the most chic color for a dress, matching with black accessories, as the stylist Monikh Dale did here. Wear it with comfortable sandals (I’m thinking of Teva or a pair of thick Dr. Martens) for the day, then opt for strappy heels and trendy earrings in the evening. Great effect is guaranteed.
WEAR IT WITH BLACK AND WHITE
My love story with this Kelly green continues. Are you convinced ? Honestly, what better way to reduce a color than to compare it with black and white? Simple, but effective.
